A Firebox quotation is not complete until the support and security subscription has been selected. Standard Support, Basic Security Suite and Total Security Suite represent different levels of protection, visibility and support.
Standard Support
Standard Support is appropriate when the requirement is centred on the core Firebox platform, including firewalling, VPN, SD-WAN, management and vendor support. It does not include the full set of subscription-based UTM and advanced threat services.
Basic Security Suite
Basic Security Suite is intended for organisations that need essential layered network security. Depending on model eligibility and current packaging, it can include intrusion prevention, gateway antivirus, application control, web filtering, reputation services, spam protection, network discovery and central reporting.
Total Security Suite
Total Security Suite builds on Basic and adds WatchGuard’s more advanced security and operational capabilities. Depending on the current product entitlement, these can include APT Blocker, DNSWatch, IntelligentAV, ThreatSync XDR, EDR Core, longer log retention and enhanced support.
Questions to ask before choosing
- Which threats and traffic must be inspected?
- Is HTTPS inspection part of the design?
- Does the team need advanced malware analysis or DNS protection?
- Will the Firebox participate in cross-product detection and response?
- How much logging and reporting is required?
- What support level and subscription period are appropriate?
Licensing must match the architecture
The least expensive subscription may not meet the agreed security requirements, while the most comprehensive suite may be unnecessary for a narrowly scoped deployment. ITMAP ASIA recommends mapping required controls to the current WatchGuard entitlement before comparing commercial options.
